The Seaside Museum Dive into the history of Bénodet

Next to the Tourist Office, the Musée du Bord de Mer is open all year round. Respecting the wishes of its heir, Mr Jean Boissel, this place of history and culture brings to life the era of elegant sea bathing and yachting on the River Odet. This museum is an essential stop-off point for understanding the character and history of Bénodet, Finistère’s top seaside resort.

A journey through time and leisure activities

The museum’s permanent exhibition takes you into the genteel history of coastal leisure activities. You’ll discover models, beach toys and period photographs illustrating how this ‘art of living by the sea’ shaped the town. It’s an original and fun tour, perfect for a family visit.

Exhibitions for all enthusiasts

The ground floor of the museum is dedicated to temporary exhibitions. The annual artistic programme highlights the sea, as well as artists from near and far. These regular events make the museum a lively and dynamic place, showcasing the richness of its heritage and contemporary creativity.
