The grounds are open all year round for walks. From May onwards there is an exhibition and guided tours as well as rucksacks with fun heritage and nature games for families to play while walking around the site. The kitchen garden exhibition and concerts, such as ‘Rencontres Chorales’ and ‘Arrée Voce’, begin in June. Other events are held at different times throughout the season, including garden events and European Heritage Days.
The grounds of the ancient abbey have many different habitats which are home to a wide diversity of animal and plant life. Several protected species, including otters and bats, find food and shelter there. The grounds are open all year round free-of-charge and are delightfully peaceful, punctuated by musical events.
Founded in 1132, the Abbaye du Relec comprises a large Romanesque church, the remains of a cloister, a lake, a driveway bordered with large trees, a monumental fountain and ancient gardens surrounded by moats.
