Founded in 1901 by the industrialist Jean-Marie Vallière des Filières, the only cannery in Loctudy enjoyed its golden age under the management of Alexis Le Gall, the son of a family of canners from Douarnenez. He made the Loctudy factory his main family business from 1919 to 1954.

The Musée de la conserverie Alexis Le Gall is both a museum of society and a collector of memories, dedicated to the history of the workers as well as to that of the great families who owned the canneries in southern Brittany. It sees itself as a potential catalyst for new identities, while aiming to preserve this heritage, which was listed as a Historic Monument in 2016.

The Conserverie Alexis Le Gall is the last witness to an extraordinary Breton history: the adventure of canned fish! This industry was born in the 19th century and is still very much alive in the Pays Bigouden. This site will tell you all about this industrial and human epic, to the rhythm of the arrival of the fish and the ringing of the factory bell! This new cultural facility in the Pays Bigouden is one of only three of its kind in Europe.
