Kernault Manor

Description

Listed as a Historic Monument, owned by the Departmental Council of Finistère, the Manor of Kernault is one of the finest examples of a 30th century Breton manor, built in the heart of a vast agricultural estate. Its dwelling and its outbuildings testify to the importance of their owners in the region. The XNUMX ha park invites you to walk and discover rustic animals living in the meadows: Ouessant sheep, Scottish cows...
Exhibitions, workshops, events and shows punctuate the life of this former agricultural residence throughout the year.
Kernault Park is a place for walking with a gently bucolic atmosphere. Breton draft horses, Scottish cows and Ouessant sheep mow the meadows and orchard meadows.

A stream peacefully crosses the estate, creating a pond and wet meadows along the way.

The current deliberately very ecological management of the estate leaves a lot of room for native fauna and flora. This gives the park its somewhat mysterious and particular charm: a discreet, visible and talkative increase in life, only for those who take the time to look and listen.

The new orchard, planted in the fall of 2011, completes the collection of local and old varieties of cider apples already present at the Manoir.

Beyond the aspects of species conservation and production, this orchard will be a friendly place to sit, picnic or dream under the apple trees, but also a place to discover the diversity of apple tastes, ancient and contemporary shapes. of orchards, grafting techniques, and the historical importance of cider, in Kernault as in Cornouaille, in the form of games, workshops and meetings, over the seasons and the growth of the trees.

Access to the park is free and free at all times.
